Profile at the Gulda School of Music
Daniel Auner continues to accept private students — in Vienna at his own teaching studio and worldwide online. The teaching is addressed to ambitious young violinists, students, advanced players and professional musicians, as well as to candidates preparing for entrance examinations.
The work covers technique and sound as much as the question of what a work actually says: articulation, rhetoric, and the provenance of an edition. Regular education projects also take him into schools.
The foundations of this teaching are set down in a method book of their own: Modern Viennese Violin School, published in June 2024. It covers posture and bowing, the left hand, vibrato and shifting, practice method and performance practice, and the interpretation of Baroque, Viennese Classical and Romantic music.
Several iOS applications have grown out of this teaching work, helping students practise between lessons — a practice planner, a tool for checking intonation and one for assessing sound.
