Wiener Musikverein · 2026/27
Four evenings of the Auner Quartett in the Gläserner Saal and the Brahms Hall of the Wiener Musikverein, in collaboration with the Alexander Zemlinsky Fonds. Guests include Thomas Hampson, Wolfgang Böck, Irene Suchy and Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz.
The cycle tells of those composers who sought their own path in the shadow of the waltz — Zemlinsky, Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Wellesz, Kreisler and Mary Dickenson-Auner. Almost all were driven out or proscribed after 1938. That their music sounds again in the Musikverein is its late homecoming.
