Contemporary violin concerts

 

Every violinist learns the great violin concertos from Johannes Brahms, Jean Sibelius, Pjotr Ilytsch Tschaikowsky, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadé Mozart etc. - but far not all musicians also study contemporary works. Daniel Auner has played the following three concerts regularly - and in some cases also worked on them together with the composers:

With the Violin Concerto No. 2 Op. 81 Albayzin and Sacromonte by Kurt Schwertsik, the Vienna Jeunesse Orchestra not only has a German premiere in its luggage, but also a sought-after soloist by its side. Daniel Auner about Kurt Schwertsik's roses and his encounter with the Austrian composer, about the evening in Granada that inspired Schwertsik to write this work, about "d'Elia" - and why he particularly appreciates this violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. Daniel Auner's animated, also glowing violin whisks you away to the highest registers, he too is a master of balance and effortlessness. Virtuosity? Child's play. At the cadence he interrupts himself with short pizzicati, at the end of the final movement he escapes again skywards...
