For Daniel Auner, conducting continues his work as a violinist — in the Viennese tradition of the “Stehgeiger”, who leads the orchestra from the first desk.

He is principal conductor and artistic director of the Mödling Symphony Orchestra, shaping five concerts a year, from Brahms’s Requiem and Carmina Burana to the major symphonic repertoire, at venues including the Wiener Musikverein. In the Golden Hall of the Musikverein he conducts the Orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper with the violinist Benjamin Schmid as soloist. As violinist and leader of the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra he directs the “Caprice Viennois” series at the Wiener Konzerthaus. For the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss he founded the Strauss Jubilee Orchestra, a repertoire into which Peter Guth introduced him as a mentor. He trained as a conductor over four years with Conrad Artmüller.

As a violinist he won the KlassikPreis Österreich and the Eugène Ysaÿe Competition.
